Ruben Amorim says two players could change Manchester United summer transfer plans
Man Utd won't be able to solve every problem they have in the summer transfer window.
Ruben Amorim has hinted Manchester United might already have internal solutions to two of their transfer problems ahead of a busy summer window. The Portuguese head coach will have the opportunity to shape the squad into his vision this summer, but might not be able to address every position he would like to.
Manchester World understands United will prioritise the addition of a striker, right winger, and at least one midfielder at the end of the season. It is understood Amorim would like as many as two midfielders this summer, while the club could also move for a goalkeeper if Altay Bayindir is sold and Tom Heaton retires.
United know their summer plans will be dictated by Champions League qualification as well as player departures, with the board currently budgeting on the presumption they will be without European football next season. The transfer plans could alter drastically if United enjoy a successful end to the campaign, although they might already have solutions to two issues.
Manchester United duo could change summer transfer plans
Speaking ahead of the Premier League clash with Man City this weekend, Ruben Amorim was quizzed on United's injury issues and whether they might improve markedly next season if they have a fully fit squad. United have certainly been hampered by plenty of setbacks this season, though it has allowed Amorim to explore the different options at his disposal.
Ayden Heaven is one of those who has been given a chance sooner than expected due to the lack of senior options at centre-back and Amorim believes his performances could end the need to sign another central defender.
"I am really excited for next season and am already stressed for next season because there is a lot of pressure on us," he told reporters. "We have bad luck with injuries, but also, you can look at the Premier League; everybody has some injuries. So I don't like to focus on that.
"Then when you have an injury, sometimes you find something that is going to be so important in the future. I found out that Garna (Alejandro Garnacho) can play on the right, we found out Ayden (Heaven) is ready to stay in our squad, and maybe we can change the way we are going to go to the market. So there are always good things in the bad things. Let's focus on that."
