Striker wanted

United striker Charlie McNeill is wanted back by Newport County this summer. The youngster was given the green light to join the League Two club on loan until the end of the season back in the January transfer window and has since been a hit with the Exiles.

He has scored two goals in 14 games as he gets valuable experience under his belt. His current boss Graham Coughlan has told the South Wales Argus: “Charlie has had a really positive impact since arriving. We needed somebody to put pressure on our other strikers and he has done that.

“He stretches play, brings a bit of quality and all round it has been a really good loan – we hope Charlie and Manchester United see it that way as well. The football is totally different to Man United so it’s a great learning curve with the physical side of the game. Days like the 4-0 at Stockport are part of his education.”

Midfielder on radar

United are reportedly keen to land Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch. FootMercato claim the Red Devils are ‘ready’ to move for the former Ajax man but face competition from rivals Liverpool.

The 20-year-old, who is a Holland international with 11 cap under his belt, joined his current club only last year on a five-year deal. However, he has struggled to make an impact in Germany so far and is being linked with an exit already.
