Where Man Utd and Man City would be in the Premier League table without VAR

Manchester United find themselves in a tough challenge for a top four spot in the Premier League this season as they sit level on points with Newcastle and only three points ahead of Tottenham Hotspur. This season has proven to be incredibly tight across the table and decisions made by referees and VAR have proved pivotal.

The Red Devils have so far had eight decisions overturned across their league matches - some going in their favour such as Gabriel Martinelli’s disallowed goal during their 3-1 win over Arsenal in September and also Willy Boly’s goal overturned for offside at Christmas. However, they have also had a number of decisions made against them, including two goals from Marcus Rashford overturned for handball against Everton and Wolves.
