The Red Devils face Arsenal in New Jersey on Saturday, before games against Wrexham, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund later in July. United have already played two pre-season friendlies this summer and have recorded wins over Leeds United and Lyon, the latter coming in Edinburgh on Wednesday.

Fifteen of the group who played in the Scottish capital have been named in the party travelling to the States, along with 16 who had remained at Carrington, with that contingent made up largely of players who returned late to training due to their involvement in the June internationals.

However, Dean Henderson, who is expected to complete a transfer to Nottingham Forest soon, was part of the 31-man squad. Anthony Martial, who has been eased back into training after he suffered a hamstring injury at the end of last season, has also been called up. Similarly, the club have been careful not to overwork Donny van de Beek and Antony so far in pre-season, but both played against Lyon and will also fly to America.

However, there’s no spot for Fred at present, with United confirming the Brazilian will remain ‘in the UK to deal with a personal issue, but he is expected to join up with the rest of the squad shortly’. Eric Bailly and Alex Telles have also been omitted, with the latter close to sealing a move away from the club.

Erik ten Hag has named several youngsters in the US squad, including: Radek Vitek, Alvaro Fernandez, Amad, Dan Gore, Hannibal, Kobbie Mainoo and Omari Forson. Andre Onana is also expected to meet up with the squad when his transfer from Inter Milan is confirmed.

A separate youth-team squad, which includes short-term signing Jonny Evans, will travel to San Diego and will take on Wrexham next Wednesday.
