Manchester United made it two wins from two in pre-season as the Red Devils beat Lyon 1-0 at Murrayfield on Wednesday.
After a goalless first half, Donny van de Beek netted the only goal of the game in the early stages of the second period, with 21 players getting minutes under their belts before the squad fly out for the club’s US tour.
United started brilliantly in Edinburgh and created three big chances inside the first five minutes as Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes did well to keep out efforts from Antony and Amad, while the latter should have done better when played in on goal, but the attacker shanked his shot wide.
Yet United’s dominance subsided after the opening quarter of an hour, with Lyon creating scoring opportunities via Alexandre Lacazette and Jeffinho, although neither attempt tested Matej Kovar in the United goal.
Mason Mount had two efforts in the later stages of the first half, with a free-kick deflecting wide and a shot from distance on 42 minutes also failing to hit the target.
Like last week against Leeds United, Erik ten Hag replaced all 10 outfield starters at the break and the more youthful side took less than four minutes to find the back of the net. The rampaging Dan Gore fired in a powerful cross into the six-yard box and Donny van de Beek, playing his first minutes since January, volley the ball past Lopes with the inside of his right foot.
Indeed, the second-string side were stronger than the first-half XI, with Marc Jurado seeing a goal-bound shot blocked by Amin Sarr on 51 minutes, before Isak Hansen-Aaroen’s strike was saved.
It was a quiet end to the game with neither team creating many openings, particularly Lyon, who didn't register a shot on target during the match. Fred did curl a free-kick over in the final minutes at Murrayfield as the Red Devils earned a comfortable victory.

2. Matej Kovar- 6
The only player to play 90 minutes, and the keeper tried to pass out wherever possible. Kovar had a quiet afternoon and didn’t make a single save.

3. Aaron Wan-Bissaka- 7 (off 45)
Looked fresh on United’s right flank and drove forward on a number of occasions, while also linked well with Amad.

4. Raphael Varane- 5 (off 45)
Solid yet unspectacular from the defender, who captained the Red Devils in Edinburgh.
