Man Utd ‘ready’ to make transfer swoop with centre-back wanted

Defender latest

United defender Harry Maguire is facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford having fallen down the pecking order over recent times. The former Hull City, Sheffield United and Leicester City man has been with the club since joining back in 2019 and has since made 175 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven goals from the back.

According to The Sun, Newcastle United ‘want’ to land him with Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur also mentioned as potential suitors. The report adds that the Toon Army will have to buy him with a loan deal not expected to happen.

Goalkeeper targeted

United are ‘ready’ to make a move for Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford with it yet to be known whether David de Gea will be staying put, as per talkSPORT. The England international has been identified as a potential target for between the sticks ahead of next term.

Pickford, who is 29-years-old, rose up through the ranks at Sunderland and went on to make 35 appearances for their first-team after loan spells at Darlington, Alfreton Town, Burton Albion, Carlisle United, Bradford City and Preston North End. He then moved to Goodison Park in 2017 and has been the Toffees’ number one since then.
