Jamie Carragher is calling on Manchester United’s treble winners to ‘admit’ that this Manchester City side are the better team.

City are hoping to make it a historic treble on Saturday night when they take on Inter Milan in the Champions League final in Istanbul. Pep Guardiola’s men have already won the Premier League and FA Cup, and they could become the first English team since Manchester United in 1999 to win the treble, or at least the famous treble, and only the second English team to ever pull it off.

With that in mind, the conversation over recent weeks has been around whether this City side is better than those United heroes from more than two decades ago.

Of course, there is no way to actually settle the debate, with the two sides not able to face-off, but there have been various claims made, be it with statistical evidence or simply based on the eye. Liverpool legend Carragher believes the current City side have the edge, and in a tweet on Saturday, he called for United players to ‘admit’ it.

“Champions League final tonight & I want Inter Milan to win obviously!” Carragher wrote on Twitter.

“But is there any past player out there who played for Man Utd’s treble team or the Arsenal invincibles who can just be honest & say this Manchester City team are better than their own team!!!!”

It may take City actually winning the Champions League title for anyone from that United side to come out and ‘admit’ it, but Inter Milan will surely put up a better fight than most expect them to. The Serie A side have plenty of experience, but they do go into the final as huge underdogs given what City have already achieved this season and the weapons they have at their disposal.
