Man United player ratings vs Ipswich - 4/10 as six performances concern Ruben Amorim in first match
It was a mixed bag for Ruben Amorim as he began life as Manchester United head coach with an underwhelming 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town on Sunday afternoon. Amad Diallo and Andre Onana were two of the brighter performers at Portman Road, though there were six players who put in concerning displays during a match United never really looked like winning.
Marcus Rashford opened the scoring after just ninety seconds to give the Portuguese head coach the perfect start to life at his new club, the English forward poked in at the near-post after an excellent run from Amad in his new role as right wing-back. Onana was required to produce a stupendous stop to deny Liam Delap from close range just before the half-time break, but there was little he could do when Omari Hutchinson's beautiful effort took a touch off Noussair Mazraoui and nestled in the back of the net.

Hide AdIn the end, a draw was probably a fair result in what was a low-quality affair at Portman Road. Here is how we rated the United players in Amorim's first match in charge:
Andre Onana - 8
Another vital contribution. He made two excellent stop to deny Liam Delap certain goals but here was little he could have done about Hutchinson's eventual equaliser.
Noussair Mazraoui - 7
Proved his versatility with another good performance, this time as a makeshift centre-back as part of the new-look back three.
Matthijs de Ligt - 5
Struggled against Delap all afternoon but was bailed out by Onana on a couple of occasions. A really poor display.
Jonny Evans - 6

Hide AdAnother game in which Evans proved his terrific worth to the United squad. He made some important defensive contributions before being replaced.
Amad Diallo - 7
A sensational assist to help United open the scoring early on. He struggled a bit defensively but did make a couple of decent blocks in his new role.
Casemiro - 5
A little slow in possession and slowed down some promising moves on the counter-attack. Might struggle for game time when others are fit.
Fired a decent effort just wide of the post and made some good passes. Has the creativity required but lacks the physical attributes to play in a midfield two.
Diogo Dalot - 5

Hide AdUncomfortable in his inverted wing-back role and fired a tame shot at goal himself. Some decent blocks in his own box but another underwhelming display.
Bruno Fernandes - 5
He played a big part in the opening goal and made a few good passes after the restart. Fernandes grew into the match as it went on but still has room for improvement.
Wasteful in the final third but worked hard for his team. Will have to do better if he is to keep his place amid fierce competition but Amorim clearly sees something in him.
Marcus Rashford - 6
A really well-taken goal early on but regressed as the match progressed. Doesn't look suited to the sole striker role before he was replaced.
Luke Shaw - 6

Hide AdA few shaky moments but looked assured on his long-awaited return to the United defence. He could be a big winner from the formation change.
Manuel Ugarte - 6
Dropped back well and linked up play well. Gave United more energy in central midfield compared to when Casemiro was on the pitch.
Joshua Zirkzee - 5
He pressed with intensity and linked up well with his teammates. Sent a dreadful shot well over the bar. Clearly lacking in confidence.
Rasmus Hojlund - 5
Was sent on to over more threat in the final third but lacked any real conviction. Amorim has a lot of work to do if he is to become a reliable goal scorer.
Mason Mount - 6
Little time to impress as he looks to kickstart his United career under the guidance of Amorim.
