Erik ten Hag will embark on his important first transfer window as Manchester United manager, with reinforcements needed to start his revolution.

It was confirmed yesterday that Paul Pogba would leave the club on a free transfer when his contract ends, meaning a midfielder is required this summer.

Ten Hag will want players that suitably fit his system, meaning there will likely be several more casualties leaving United and many new faces arriving at Old Trafford.

In light of this, here is the latest United transfer news and rumours.

Mata to leave Old Trafford

It has been confirmed that Juan Mata will leave United after eight years at the club when his current deal expires at the end of June.

The Spaniard was signed by David Moyes in 2014 and became a consistent performer for the club, making 285 appearances for the Red Devils.

The 34-year-old struggled for game time last season and so this news is not a surprise.

Mata made a statement following the news, saying: "Thank you for dedicating eight years of your career to United, Juan. Everyone at the club wishes you all the best for the future."

Timber move in trouble?

Jurrien Timber’s move to United is reportedly in doubt as it is said that the player needs assurances he will get regular playing time in England.

Ten Hag is believed to be keen to reunite with his former defender from Ajax and a £40m transfer fee has been reported.

According to De Telegraaf, Timber is worried he will not get the required game time he needs to win him a spot in the Netherlands squad for the Qatar World Cup.

De Jong alternative

As it is looking increasingly unlikely that United will manage to persuade Frenkie de Jong to join the club, Ten Hag has reportedly targeted Milinkovic-Savic as a possible alternative.

The Lazio midfielder has been linked to Old Trafford for several years and would be a cheaper option to bring in this summer.
