Manchester United are back in friendly action on Saturday when they take on Lens as part of a double-header this weekend.

Erik ten Hag’s men will split into two, with Athletic Club the opposition on Sunday afternoon, and that will be the final friendly ahead of United’s Premier League campaign kicking off next weekend. In the meantime, the Red Devils will continue to work on new signings and outgoings as Ten Hag continues to shape his squad.

Branthwaite interest

United are said to have ‘made an approach’ to sign up and coming Everton talent Jarrad Branthwaite.

According to Football Insider, United will turn their attention to adding defensive depth after landing a striker and a holding midfielder, and Everton starlet Branthwaite is said to be an option. Though, with the 21-year-old already racking up 10 senior appearances, Everton are said to want as much as £25million, well aware of the youngster’s talent.

It’s likely United will need to arrange a number of player sales before pulling off this extra deal, given they are likely to prioritise a midfielder after Rasmus Hojlund is confirmed.

Amrabat update

United are still said to be battling away in heir bid to land Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat.

Amrabat seems to be the priority target for the holding midfield role, and he is likely to replace Scott McTominay in the United squad for the new season, but the Red Devils are still coming up short in their efforts to strike a deal. Gazzetta dello Sport report in their paper that Fiorentina are net yet happy with a proposal, but a “decisive acceleration could happen at any moment.”

We could see this deal get intensified once United wrap up and confirm the Hojlund deal.
