Up to seven players could missing for Manchester United for the pre-season matches.

Manchester United face two friendlies this weekend in their final pre-season preparations ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

The Red Devils face Lens at Old Trafford on Saturday, the first time Erik ten Hag’s men have played at home since May. There have also been reports that the signing of Rasmus Hojlund will be confirmed before the match, with the Dane potentially set to be unveiled on the pitch as the Red Devils’ newest signing.

Just over 24 hours later, United face Athletic Bilbao at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin. With the Red Devils having such strong support in the Irish capital, it’s set to be a sellout occasion.

The double header will also provide Ten Hag with an opportunity to give the majority of his players 90 minutes before the season kicks off against Wolverhampton Wanderers on 14 August. So far, Bruno Fernandes is the only outfield player to have played a full game in pre-season, with Ten Hag tending to make wholesale changes at half-time or around the hour mark.

That won’t be the case this weekend, and the Dutchman will split his squad in half for matches, with the two groups set to be mixed in terms of ability. United played an almost entirely under-21 team against Wrexham last month, but that won’t be the case this weekend.

Yet there are several injuries in the camp to contend with, while there are a few players who are continuing to recuperate after long-term absences. Below, we’ve listed every player who is either a doubt or has been ruled out of the two matches on Saturday and Sunday…
