In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding Old Trafford.

Costa latest

There continue to be suggestions that United could replace goalkeeper David De Gea, despite the Spaniard’s improved form so far this season.

De Gea is out of contract at the end of the season, and the Red Devils may take the opportunity to get his big wage off the books. According to SportsWitness, Porto’s Diogo Costa could be an option, though he would not come cheap. Costa has a release clause worth £65.9million, and Porto may well demand that fee to sell their star stopper.

A move in the summer is probably more likely for United, with De Gea likely to stay until at least the end of the season.

Fred interest

United only recently triggured a contract clause they held over £52m midfielder Fred to extend his contract, but the Brazilian is not said to be attracting attention from elsewhere.

According to The Sun, French giants Paris Saint-Germain are weighing up a surprise move. That could be a concern for United, given the contract extension only adds a further year to the midfielder’s deal, taking him up to the summer of 2024. Though, even in the worst case, if Fred wants to leave, United can now demand a larger fee.
