Manchester United are putting their poor start to the season behind them.

Erik ten Hag’s men are climbing the table, now in fifth place and three points off Premier League leaders Arsenal.

United defeated the Gunners - who were previously unbeaten - on Sunday, with Marcus Rashford scoring a brace, while Antony netted on his debut.

Ten Hag’s men are on cloud nine ahead of their Europa League opener with Real Sociedad, and it’s quite the turnaround after such a poor start to the campaign.

Here we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Old Trafford:

Gakpo deal

United were close to agreeing a deal for PSV star Cody Gakpo during the summer window, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

“Cody Gakpo had an agreement on personal terms with Manchester United,” Romano told CaughtOffside. “He had this dream of Man United, but for the club he was only a backup option in case they couldn’t sign Antony,” Romano explained.

“Still, Gakpo is a player who has always been on Man United’s list and they were prepared to bid for him in case the Antony deal didn’t happen.”

Gakpo was also linked with a move to Southampton, but he eneded up staying at PSV, at least until January.

Ziyech interest

United are also said to have considered a deal for out of favour Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech during the window.

Ziyech was touted around having failed to secure regular starts at Stamford Bridge, but he was unable to secure a move.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils were interested in a move before the club’s board vetoed the potential transfer.

In the end, Ziyech remained at Chelsea, while United moved on to other targets, snapping up Antony on a big-money deal from Ajax.
