Pundit Ian Wright has been full of praise for Manchester United on Match of the Day 2.

Erik ten Hag’s side picked up an impressive 3-1 win at home to top of the league Arsenal at Old Trafford over the weekend.

New signing Antony opened the scoring for the hosts, only for the Gunners to equalise through Bukayo Saka.

However, United made sure of the victory with a quick-fire brace from Marcus Rashford.

Despite their tough start to the new Premier League campaign, the Red Devils now appear to have turned a corner.

They have won their last four games in a row and have risen up to 5th in the table.

‘Ruthless’...

Former Arsenal striker Wright said:

“I think we (Arsenal) played very well but we came up against a very ruthless Man United side, especially (Christian) Eriksen feeding in (Bruno) Fernandes and Rashford, who looks like he’s in some kind of form.

“We got punished for some mistakes but you can’t take any from Man United how direct and clinical they were.”

When asked how United were able to win the game, ex-Premier League striker Troy Deeney, who was sat alongside Wright, said:

“From their shape. They were inviting Arsenal to go around them. They wanted it to go wide. Anything that came through the middle they funnelled it out.”

The current Birmingham City man also hailed the influence of Eriksen:

“He was masterful today and it is also good to see Marcus (Rashford) smiling again. He’s confident as well so you can see when they are giving him the ball he’s like ‘right, bang we’re going forward’ and the rest of the team are moving with him.”

United return to the action this week at home to Real Sociedad in the Europa League.

They then make the trip down to South London on Sunday to lock horns with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park as they go in search of a fifth win on the bounce.
