Player's agent teases imminent Manchester United transfer ahead of official announcement

Man Utd are set to make Joshua Zirkzee their first signing of the summer transfer window.

Joshua Zirkzee's transfer agency have taken to social media to tease his imminent move to Manchester United.

The Dutch forward flew to Manchester on Thursday night and is understood to have undergone his medical with the club on Friday morning. Zirkzee also met with manager Erik ten Hag ahead of an official announcement from United to confirm the signing of the forward from Italian side Bologna.

United have agreed to pay €42.5 million for his signature, slightly more than the €40 million release clause so that they can stagger the transfer fee over a three-year period, rather than pay it upfront in full.

An official announcement doesn't look too far away either, after the player's agency took to Instagram to tease his move to Manchester. Posting on their official Instagram account, Sports Invest uploaded a picture of the United club crest along with a side eyes emoji.

The timing of the social media post suggests an official announcement could be imminent, with United likely to unveil Zirkzee as a new player before the end of the week.

United have made the addition of another forward a priority in the summer transfer window following Anthony Martial’s departure as a free agent. The Dutch forward will not only provide backup to Rasmus Hojlund in central attack, but he is also viewed as a versatile player who can play across the forward line.

Zirkzee scored 11 league goals and registered five assists for Bologna last season as they qualified for the Champions League for the first time in their history.
