'He will' - Ruben Amorim reveals what Marcus Rashford will do today after latest Manchester United snub

The Man Utd forward missed the Carabao Cup defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night.

Ruben Amorim insists Marcus Rashford still has a future at Manchester United and he will be expected at training on Friday after he missed the defeat to Tottenham last night.

Rashford was omitted from the United squad for the derby victory over Man City last weekend and was overlooked once again as they lost in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup. It remains to be seen whether or not he will be involved when they host Bournemouth in the Premier League this weekend.

The 27-year-old fuelled further suggestions his time at Old Trafford could soon be up earlier in the week when he admitted he was 'ready for a new challenge' after two decades at his boyhood club.

Amorim remains adamant Rashford has only missed the last two matches due to performance issues rather than any disciplinary matter and the head coach wants to see a response from one of his most important players.

Asked if it was best for Rashford to leave in January, Amorim told Sky Sports: "Tomorrow we have training, he will be there preparing for next game. He is a United player, everyone has a future at Man United."

Speaking in his post-match press conference, the Portuguese coach defended the call to drop Rashford again and reiterated that there are only a limited number of places available to all the players in the first-team environment.

He added: "No. I feel I do the right thing for the team. So it was never a mistake. We have to make a selection... I think it was not a mistake because I feel I am always doing the best for the team the way I see things."
