Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim spoke to the press ahead of the Europa League clash against Bodo/Glimt.

Ruben Amorim believes Amad Diallo is one of the players who should be scoring more goals for Manchester United amid their ongoing issues in front of goal.

United scored within ninety seconds of the first whistle against Ipswich Town at the weekend but offered little else in front of goal as they were deservedly held to a 1-1 draw at Portman Road. It means United are the joint third-lowest scorers in the Premier League with just 13 goals to their name this term, as many as both Ipswich and Newcastle, and only better than both Crystal Palace and Southampton.

Amorim played down the suggestion United will need to buy another striker next year and is hopeful those already at the club have what it takes to transform their misfortunes in front of goal While much of the focus is on strikers Rasmus Hojlund, Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee, Amorim also believes Amad can provide more of a threat in the final third.

“Of course there is a concern in that but I think we have to improve as a team,” Amorim said. Because we have quality players who can score so many goals. But you can feel it in the second half (at Ipswich). We control possession of the ball but we were not dangerous.

“Maybe because we spend the week trying to work on build up and then the rest was not working. We will try to improve as a team and Rasmus (Hojlund), then Josh (Zirkzee) and Rash will score more goals, even Bruno (Fernandes) has to score more goals. Amad (Diallo) has to be better near the goal. All these guys need to improve, and we can score so many goals. You are trying to (ask) if I need a new striker to score goals. We need to improve as a team and these players can score more goals.”
