Gary Lineker believes Rasmus Hojlund is showing all the signs of being a prolific goalscorer for Manchester United in the long run.

The £72million signing from Atalanta has just one United goal to his name so far, in the 4-3 Champions League defeat at Bayern Munich.

But after Erik ten Hag’s under-pressure side picked up a much-needed 1-0 win at Burnley on Saturday evening, England legend Lineker singled out the Dane for praise due to one major attribute.

Speaking on Match of the Day, he said: “I’ve watched him in the first two or three games he’s played and he’s only scored the one goal so far and that was in Europe but he looks to me like he will score goals. I like his movement.”

Hojlund is only 20, and will likely take time to settle properly at Old Trafford, but much is expected of the former Copenhagen-born frontman as United look to overcome a desperately poor start to the season.

MOTD pundit Danny Murphy agreed with Lineker though and is confident Hojlund will come good for ten Hag.

The former Liverpool midfielder said: “The goal in midweek will do him the world of good and today, although he didn’t score, he got in positions I always think a striker should be in and on another day he’s going to get goals because he keeps making really good runs.”
