Man Utd are set to complete their first signing of the 2025 January transfer window.

Ruben Amorim is set to complete his first Manchester United signing in the final days of the January transfer window.

United are eager to add both a wing-back and a forward to their side before deadline day and will take a major step forward with an agreement in place for Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu to join the club.

Dorgu has already agreed personal terms with United over an impending move to Old Trafford and it is understood United also have a verbal agreement with Lecce over a transfer fee. United will pay the Serie A club an initial €30 million plus a further €5m in potential add-ons.

The 20-year-old is viewed as a player who could revolutionise United's tactical approach under Amorim, with the hope he will bring balance to their side and contribute to attacking play as much as defence. His arrival will allow Diogo Dalot to occupy the right wing-back role, with Noussair Mazraoui viewed as suitable cover for either flank.

United hope to have a deal for Dorgu completed by the weekend and Gianluca Di Marzio has even suggested he will fly to Manchester on Thursday to complete his medical examinations and be presented as a new player. United will have to register Dorgu by midday on Friday if he is to be eligible for their Premier League home match against Crystal Palace this weekend.

Dorgu is set to become the first official signing of Amorim's reign, though the club have also agreed a deal for fellow full-back Diego Leon to join the club once he turns 18 in April. It is further evidence of Amorim's huge importance on wing-backs in his formation as he looks to implement his new tactical style effectively.

To finance a move for Dorgu, United have allowed Antony to join Real Betis on loan for the remainder of the campaign while fellow defender Tyrell Malacia will also be allowed to depart before the deadline day next Tuesday. United are still exploring options to add to their attack, with Mathys Tel and Christopher Nkunku both linked.
