Fabrizio Romano reveals another Manchester United star who 'could leave' this month

Man Utd will focus on player sales this month as they look to balance the books and raise funds.

Manchester United will listen to offers for Tyrell Malacia during the January transfer window. United are prioritising player exits this month as they look to raise their transfer funds and address their 'tight' financial situation.

It means 25-year-old defender Malacia could be allowed to leave if an appropriate offer arrives for him, even though United don't have a direct replacement available. The Dutch defender has made six appearances for United under Ruben Amorim since he returned from his lengthy injury lay-off and featured from the bench in their epic penalty shootout victory over Arsenal at the weekend.

Amorim has prioritised the addition of a left wing-back this calendar year amid continued doubts regarding the fitness of both Luke Shaw and Malacia, while neither of them is seen as a perfect fit for the precise nature of the role under the new head coach.

Taking to social media on Monday morning, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano issued an update on Malacia's uncertain future at the club. "Tyrell Malacia could leave Man United now in case of good proposal, even on initial loan with buy clause…but he’s not a target for Italian side Como, no talks despite reports," he wrote.

Malacia has made 44 appearances since he became the first signing of Erik ten Hag's reign following a £14.7m move from Feyenoord. United are likely to sign two left-sided wing-backs this year with teenage defender Diego León set to undergo his medical at the club on Monday. The 17-year-old is set to become United's first signing of the calendar year when he signs from Paraguayan club Cerro Porteño, though he won't be able to officially join until he turns 18 in April.
