Manchester United are being linked with a move for Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz.
The Red Devils have spent much of this summer chasing Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong, but to little avail.

As Erik ten Hag reportedly weighs up alternatives, Spain international Ruiz has been linked with a move to Old Trafford.
According to Calcio Napoli 24, United have contacted the midfielder over a move, with Napoli already ‘irritated’ by Ruiz after he has pushed for a move this summer.
Ruiz is valued at around £38million, the report claims, but only has one year remaining on his contract, putting Napoli in a vulnerable position.

“I am happy in Naples, I still have two years of contract and I’m only thinking of doing well with the national team,” he said at the time. “It’s nice that they talk about you and that your name is attached to big clubs.”
Ruiz only has earned 15 international caps to date, and his main aim will be to be involved in the Spain squad for the fast-approaching World Cup.
Luis Enrique has a crowded midfield currently, and Ruiz has an uphill task having missed out on the squad for June’s fixtures.

Convincing Ruiz of that could be key to any deal if United really are pursuing the 26-year-old’s signature.
As far as striking a deal with Napoli, it should just be a game of numbers given Ruiz only has one year of contract remaining.
