Manchester United's Mason Greenwood is reportedly being eyed by one of the biggest clubs in the world. The forward is currently on loan with Getafe in La Liga.

The forward joined the Spanish side minutes before the summer transfer window shut, just 11 days after United confirmed that Greenwood would continue his career away from Old Trafford, following criminal charges against the player which were dropped in February.

The answer to that was a loan deal with Getafe, with Greenwood now hoping to revitalise his career in the Madrid province. He is enjoying his time there, too, with Getafe as high as ninth in the table, with Greenwood scoring four and assisting three in his first 13 games across all competitions.

According to TalkSport, that form is enough to have attracted attention from some top clubs, including FC Barcelona. It's claimed the Blaugrana have already sent scouts to watch Greenwood in action, and they are not the only club.

It's also claimed Atletico Madrid have sent personnel to watch Greenwood in action for Getafe. Meanwhile, Getafe are said to be hoping to pull of a permanent deal at the end of the season.

United have promised to find Greenwood a new long-term club, so it would be controversial if they opted to bring him back at the end of his loan spell with Getafe. Either way, they could benefit from the forward's form and the reported interest in him, given they could welcome a much bigger transfer fee next summer compared to what they could have commanded last summer, when they struggled to find a club to take on Greenwood.

Greenwood has not played a match for United since January 2022, the same month he was arrested and subsequently charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault. Those charges were dropped in February, with United launching an internal investigation into the matter.

The club decided that while they were convinced he was not guilty of the allegations made against him, Greenwood’s career would be best served away from Old Trafford. Greenwood has always denied the charges against him, but admitted to making ‘mistakes’ in his relationship.
