One of the club’s originals, Millie Turner is part of the furniture at Manchester United having joined the club during their inagrual season back in 2018.

In February, she hit a century appearances for the club and over the years has played a pivotal role in United’s progression from Women’s Super League newcomers to title contenders. Ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup semi final clash with Brighton, her thirst for major trophies is unquenchable.

“I’ve been here since the start and all I’ve wanted to do is win trophies with this club” said Turner.

“We just need to push our levels higher every single week and I think we have been doing that. We have trophies in our sight, definitely. Getting this club to a final is huge. It would be an absolute honour to get this club to Wembley and I think it is where we deserve to be.”

There appeared to be no nerves ahead of the big weekend game at Leigh Sports Village, the defender seemed calm, composed and ready as she spoke about United’s 90 minutes with destiny, citing her confidence comes from the winners they possess throughout the squad. She knows they are capable of beating anybody.

“We are all very excited. It is another big game and that's what we thrive on. We want to give everything that we've got. Its good to have confidence that we can win any game and I think that is massive in the dressing room at the minute.

“I've been in environments which aren’t as good here as it is here at United. The togetherness we have is massively important. It allows you to express your own personality on the pitch and we all bring our own individual qualities and collectively bind them together as a team - it makes something really special. But we can only do that if we are comfortable and support each other which is so important going forward.

“We have internationals all over the pitch that have played at the highest level for years. For us going into a big game like that the weekend, it is really important to have the likes of these players.”

Alongside defensive partner Maya Le Tissier, the Wilmslow born centre back has been one of many that have stepped up their game to the next level during the campaign and her excellent form has seen calls for her to be given an opportunity for England ahead of this summer’s World Cup.

Having the opportunity to play for her national team is something the United star does think about, but lifting silverware with her club is where her focus remains - for now at least.

“Of course I think about it. I want to represent my country, that is a huge dream of mine.

“But I can only control what I can control. I think it is important for me to just keep giving everything that I've got for my team and if it happens, it happens. What will be, will be. I'll continue to give everything I've got and hopefully keep putting in good performances.”

Manchester United face Brighton and Hove Albion this Saturday in the FA Cup semi final at Leigh Sports Village with tickets on sale here starting from £3 for children and £6 for adults.
