Sevilla are set to rekindle their interest in Manchester United striker Anthony Martial during the latter stages of the transfer window, according to Foot Mercato.

The Frenchman has been linked with a host of clubs in recent weeks amid speculation suggesting that his time at Old Trafford is coming to an end, and La Liga title contenders Sevilla are among those who have been touted as potential suitors.

But after a period of relative silence on their apparent interest in Martial, reports from his home country now claim that Sevilla are ready to mount a renewed charge to secure his services.

Foot Mercato suggest that the Andalusian outfit “have returned and seem ready to try their luck again” with a temporary agreement for the forward.

The French publication also claim United “are open to a loan, but only with the entirety of Martial’s wages being taken on” as part of the deal.

How likely is Martial to leave Man United this month?

The early signs suggested that Martial was all but certain to leave United this January.

Back in December, the player’s agent stated openly that his client was eager to seek a fresh challenge elsewhere, while Old Trafford interim Ralf Rangnick echoed a similar message while discussing talks he had held with the 26-year-old himself.

The German said: “He [Martial] explained to me he’s been at Manchester United now for the last seven years and he feels it’s the right time for a change, to go somewhere else.

“I think in a way this is understandable, I could follow his thoughts but on the other hand, it’s also important to see the situation of the club.”

In recent days, talk of Martial’s potential exit has quietened somewhat, but there’s been nothing to suggest that his stance has been altered, and if there is substance to Foot Mercato’s latest update, it’s not unimaginable that he could still depart before the transfer window closes.

Who is being tipped to win the race for Martial?

At the moment, several clubs are being linked with Martial by bookmakers, but it’s Juventus who currently lead the race at a price of 2/1, as per SkyBet.

Behind them are Barcelona at 5/1, with both Newcastle United and Sevilla both coming in at odds of 6/1. Of the rest of the chasing pack, West Ham United are closest at a price of 16/1.
