Manchester United have offered Roma the chance to loan Donny van de Beek, according to reports.
The ex-Ajax midfielder has struggled to hold down a regular place in the United team since joining in 2020 and has played just 60 times for the club, with only 23 coming as starts. It was hoped his career at Old Trafford would blossom under the guidance of former manager Erik ten Hag, but a mixture of injury and poor form limited the 26-year-old to 10 appearances in 2022/23.

Roma could be one option for the Dutchman, with Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claiming United have ‘proposed’ Van de Beek joins Jose Mourinho in Rome.
“Manchester United proposed Van de Beek to Jose Mourinho, to Roma,” the reporter told Sky Sports News. “That’s not the priority now, the priority is selling players, for example [Justin] Kluivert to Bournemouth is really close.
“Roma will think about Van de Beek in the next few days and then we will see if he is coming to Italy as a lot of Italian players are coming to the Premier League.”
Should Van de Beek move to Serie A, he would link up with former team-mate Nemanja Matic, while ex-United man Chris Smalling is also enjoying something of a renaissance at Roma, although his time at Old Trafford didn’t coincide with Van de Beek’s spell in Manchester. Mourinho’s squad also includes former Premier League stars Rui Patrício and Tammy Abraham.

Youngsters Hannibal and Zidane Iqbal may also be sold, with the latter linked heavily with a move to Dutch side Utrecht.
In replacement, Mason Mount is expected to arrive at United. The Red Devils saw a £50m bid rejected on Wednesday and plan to return with a third offer. The club are also targeting another midfielder this summer and have been linked with a move for Adrien Rabiot, who could arrive on a free transfer.
