Donny van de Beek is reportedly ‘in talks’ with a number of clubs as the Manchester United midfielder is expected to move on this summer.

The midfielder has made just 60 appearances for the Red Devils since signing from Ajax in 2020, and was limited to 10 matches last season, mainly due to injury. After missing the last six months of the 2022/23 campaign with a long-term knee problem, Van de Beek made a goalscoring return to the side last week as United beat Lyon 1-0 in Edinburgh.

The Dutchman admitted after the match that he will ‘probably’ move on this summer. “For now it is hard to say where my future is,” he said. “I come back now after injury and I am fit now, I play my first match and train for a few weeks."

The Daily Mail have since reported that Van de Beek is speaking to several clubs about a possible transfer. Van de Beek was linked with a move to Roma earlier in the window and is also a reported target for Celtic.

ManchesterWorld understands Erik ten Hag is willing to let Van de Beek move on this summer and is even targeting the addition of another midfielder despite Mason Mount already joining in the window.

The United manager’s decision to omit Van de Beek from the team which played Arsenal in Saturday’s pre-season friendly was also a clear indication of where he currently stands in the pecking order. Teenager Koobie Mainoo was selected in the starting XI above Van de Beek, with Mount, Fernandes, Casemiro, Scott McTominay and Christian Eriksen playing as well. Fred, another midfielder who is preferred ahead of Van de Beek, was also missing from the matchday squad.
