'Contact made' - Manchester United have loan offer for £82m flop

Man Utd will look to balance the books in the January transfer window and could let an expensive signing leave.

Manchester United have already received a number of loan enquiries over the availability of Antony in the January transfer window.

United will entertain offers for just about every first-team player this month, with the £82 million flop one of those who would be allowed to leave the club if the right opportunity arises.

Antony, 24, has made just 12 appearances for the club so far this season, with only half of those coming in the Premier League. In fact, he has yet to start a league match this campaign, though half of his appearances have been since Ruben Amorim arrived as the new head coach.

The Brazilian forward has never managed to settle at Old Trafford and does not appear to have a key role to play in their new tactical set-up under Amorim. United would be open to either a permanent or temporary exit this month and Sky Sports claim contact has already been made over a possible loan exit.

Taking to social media on Monday, reporter Dharmesh Sheth issued an update on Antony's future at the club. "A number of clubs – including from Spain and Greece – have made contact with Manchester United over a loan for winger Antony. It’s understood United will consider offers for the player. Antony joined in 2022 from Ajax for £82m. He hasn’t started a League game this season." Antony has scored just 12 goals and notched five assists since he joined United for an £82m fee from Ajax three years ago.
