Jadon Sancho's timekeeping came under scrutiny during his time at Manchester United

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke admitted Jadon Sancho struggles with “his internal clock” after re-signing the Manchester United winger.

Just two-and-a-half years on from raking in £75million for the England international, Dortmund announced his return on loan until the end of the season. Sancho had failed to deliver at Old Trafford, bagging just 12 goals and creating six more in 82 games across all competitions.

Rumours about being late for training were beginning to emerge from Carrington when Sancho publicly fell out with Erik ten Hag. Following the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal in September, the Dutchman accused him of lacking discipline in training.

"Because of his performance in training we didn't select him,” Ten Hag told reports after the defeat at the Emirates. “You have to reach a level every day at Manchester United."

A bitter feud ensued, with Sancho responding on social media to refute his manager’s claims. Ten Hag ultimately banished him from the training ground and he has not worn a United shirt since.

Dortmund acted swiftly to sign a player they helped develop into an England star. While there is no option-to-buy clause, there are murmurings about Sancho’s stay potentially being made permanent should the move prove a success.

On his return, the 23-year-old came off the bench to set up Marcos Reus in a 3-0 win over SV Darmstadt. Dortmund supremo Watzke spoke before the game to dismiss Sancho’s discipline issues but conceded his timekeeping can be poor.

"Jadon has no problem with discipline,” he said. “I don't know who thought that up. The lad has a bit of a problem with his internal clock and can be a bit late from time to time."
