Amad is back in contention against Tottenham Hotspur after missing the Wigan Athletic clash through illness

Amad has admitted he enjoys “a good relationship” with Erik ten Hag while committing his immediate future to Manchester United.

Fans were excited to see the Ivory Coast international return to action in the 2-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest a fortnight ago. Amad had been ruled out since suffering a serious knee injury in a pre-season game against Arsenal last July.

Ahead of the US tour, the winger was being tipped as one to watch given his heroics at Sunderland last season. Bagging 14 goals for the Black Cats led to calls for the Red Devils to give him a chance in 2023-24.

An injury frustrated those hopes but Amad is back and ready to make an impact. The 21-year-old even ruled himself out of a home African Cup of Nations for the Ivory Coast to make United his priority.

Jadon Sancho’s well-documented fallout with Ten Hag saw him rejoin Borussia Dortmund in midweek. Combined with Antony’s poor form, a window of opportunity for Amad has opened up on the right flank.

Speaking to United Review, Amad opened up about his relationship with the manager and vowed to deliver when called upon. He said: "Working with him (Ten Hag) is really something that doesn't happen every day. He is a person who wants to work hard. Even in training when you're going slowly, he calls you over and tells you to go stronger.

"I like coaches like that, that let you know that you need to train hard. My relationship with him is a good relationship. I've come in with more belief and with the desire to help the team as I've always wanted to do. I want to continue on this path. Whenever the coach calls me up or sends me on the pitch, I want to be always present to help the team."
