The success of Amad's cameo performance against Liverpool last time out is that he won't be available for Manchester United when they face Brentford this weekend.

The Ivorian, 21, was the hero from the bench as United came from behind to defeat their fierce rivals 4-3 in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, but was sent off for his impassioned celebration.

Amad took his shirt off to celebrate the sensational winner at Old Trafford and was shown a second yellow card which will see him miss the trip to Brentford on Saturday evening.

His dramatic winner was obviously the highlight of the impressive cameo performance, but United coaches were just as impressed with his overall work rate and the off-the-ball contributions in the match.

Technical director Darren Fletcher heaped the praise on the United youngster and in particular his independent thinking.

Fletcher told The Athletic: “At that key moment, he has to decide whether to become a right-back or where else to defend. Amad recognised what he had to do.

“The intensity, attitude and work rate is there. The off the ball stuff is really important.

“Against Liverpool, he showed he’d taken on all our feedback. He made more runs, he was more elusive as well as getting across his attacking qualities.”
