When is the League Cup quarter-final draw & who could Manchester City face?

The Blues have to navigate past West Ham on Wednesday if they’re to make it to the last eight.

Manchester City take on West Ham United on Wednesday night in the League Cup last-16 and will be hoping to progress to the quarter-final stage.

However, the winner at the London Stadium will have a longer wait than usual to discover who they face in the next round?

When is the League Cup quarter-final draw?

In a break from tradition, the quarter-final draw will actually take place three days after the final last-16 ties are played.

The next round of the tournament will be decided on Saturday 30 October, live on Soccer AM.

The show is set to be broadcast between 10:30am-12pm on Sky Sports Main Event & Premier League, and the quarter-final draw will be conducted by ex-Wigan Athletic and Fulham midfielder Jimmy Bullard, and actor Danny Mays.

Which sides can City face?

Should they eliminate West Ham, City will enter a draw that is expected to contain most of England’s top sides.

Arsenal and Chelsea have already secured their place in the hat, along with surprise package Sunderland, who are currently in League One.

The other last-16 fixtures which will be played on Wednesday are Burnley v Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City v Brighton & Hove Albion, Preston North End v Liverpool and Stoke City v Brentford.

When are the quarter-finals?

The last eight will take place on the week commencing 20 December, with the matches likely to be spread out over 21-22 December.

City’s League Cup route

So far Pep Guardiola’s men have only played one game in the competition and beat Wycombe Wanderers 6-1 in the third round.

As for West Ham, they eliminated Manchester United at the previous stage, courtesy of a 1-0 victory at Old Trafford.
