Manchester City players have been handed their ratings for EA Sports’ FIFA 22 ahead of its full launch and there are reasons to be happy if you’re a City fan.

Due to go on general sale on October 1, the player ratings have been dropped for those wanting to trial the game and gain early access, allowing us to see who’s the best  in the game.

After lifting the Premier League trophy last season and reaching the Champions League final, a raft of Man City players have seen their ratings improve on the popular football simulation game.

Whose ratings have improved?

Ruben Dias was the biggest riser, having gone from 81 to 87, cementing his place as the second-best centre-back in the Premier League, behind Virgil van Dijk. He eclipses Aymeric Laporte as the best defender at the club.

Phil Foden was the second highest riser, moving to an overall rating of 84 after an increased amount of playing time last season, almost doubling the amount of minutes from the 2019/20 season. Last year he scored nine goals and assisted five times in the Premier League, which backs up his growth.

Expensive summer recruit Jack Grealish has received an increase of +4 from his rating last year with the decision makers adding more points to his pace and dribbling following a stellar campaign last year.

Another high riser, Joao Cancelo, who played 28 times in the league last season, has gone up by three, overtaking teammate Kyle Walker, who remains at 85 but Trent Alexander-Arnold remains the best right-back in the Premier League.

Centre defensive midfielder Rodri has been given a one rating increase overtaking Reds skipper Jordan Henderson, but he is still four off of N’Golo Kante for the best CDM in the division.

When it comes to out-and-out centre midfielders, City have two players in the top five in the league. Kevin de Bruyne remains the best player in the game on 91 whilst teammate Ilkay Gundogan goes up by two, ranking him the same as Chelsea’s Jorginho.

Goalkeeper Ederson has received a boost by one which ranks him level with compatriot Alisson, who plays for Liverpool with the two tied for top spot in the division.

Despite a raft of rises, there are some rating decreases for the players who had to take a lesser role in last season’s achievements.

Wantaway attacker Bernardo Silva has been downgraded by one to an 86 and has also received a positional change, moving to a centre attacking midfielder. There is a silver lining for the Portuguese midfielder though as with attributes of 91 for dribbling, he is the best dribbler in the Premier League.

Laporte, displaced by Dias as mentioned as the best defender, drops by one whilst Fernandinho, who has prolonged his career at the club, has suffered a drop of three, putting him on 83.

As with anything in life, someone has to be the worst and unfortunately for Spanish youngster Iker Pozo, he has a lowly rating of 57. The 21-year-old who has yet to break into the first-team is on loan at FC Eindhoven but is on the books of the club on the game.
