Manchester City star Kyle Walker has admitted he would be open to a lucrative move to the Saudi Pro League.

The 81-times capped England defender has enjoyed a highly-successful seven-year stay at the Etihad Stadium after helping City to five Premier League titles, four Carabao Cups, two FA Cups, a FIFA World Club Cup, a UEFA Super Cup and last season’s Champions League Final win against Serie A giants Inter.

There was speculation linking Walker with a move to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich last summer but ended any talk of a move away by penning a new three-year deal. However, Walker has now revealed he would consider a move to join former City team-mates Aymeric Laporte and Riyad Mahrez in the Saudi Pro League - despite conceding he would like to stay in the Premier League ‘for as long as possible’.

When asked about the possibility of a move to the Gulf State on the FIVE Podcast, the City star responded: “I’ll never say never. The money that they’re paying and everything is obviously a massive factor in why they’re going out there. (Cristiano) Ronaldo opened the pathway for everyone to go there. If they keep attracting the player they're attracting the league will get better so why wouldn't you want to go? But for me the Premier League is the best league in the world so I want to compete in this league for as long as possible and as high as possible.”

Walker also revealed he would like to return to former club Sheffield United after coming through the youth ranks at Bramall Lane before going on to join Tottenham Hotspur in a £4m deal during the summer of 2009.

He said: ”As long as my legs are going and I still feel that I can contribute at a certain level. I don't want to drop down too low because the lower it gets I think it gets harder because certain things that you have the luxury of having at City - whether it is the facilities or nutrition or other - but I'd like to finish at Sheffield United.

"I was there from such a young age until I went to Tottenham and only played five games. I went back on loan for half a season so I think I have about 35 games. I'd go for as long as possible but to give back or even pass on my experience to the younger players, if I can do that then I'd like to."
