Whitefield crash: man dies after being hit by lorry on Radcliffe New Road

A 55-year-old man died after a collision with an HGV in Whitefield.

A man has died after being struck by an HGV in Manchester.

The collision happened on Radcliffe New Road, Whitefield, around 1.30pm on Wednesday (15 March 2023.) The road was closed in both directions between Bury New Road and Dales Lane while emergency services attended and for investigations to take place.

GMP later confirmed the pedestrian had sadly died at the scene. In a statement on their Bury North Facebook page, the force said: “GMP collision investigators are appealing for information after a pedestrian died in Bury. The 55-year-old man was in collision with an HGV on Radcliffe New Road, Whitefield, at around 1.30pm on 15 March 2023.

“Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver remained at the scene to help police.Anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or believes they have any CCTV or dashcam footage, should contact GMP’s Serious Collison Investigation Unit. on 0161 856 4741 quoting log 1594 15 March 2023.”
