Metrolink Bury tram line partly closing for engineering work - when the disruption is & travel advice

Travellers who use the Metrolink are facing some disruption as engineering works mean parts of one of the tram lines are being closed.
Sections of the Bury line are out of action between Saturday 13 August and Friday 18 August while work takes place, Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has said.
Replacement bus services are operating on the stretches of the route where there are no trams running.

When is the part closure of the Bury Metrolink line and which sections are affected?
TfGM said there are no trams in operation between Bury and Whitefield from Saturday 13 August until Tuesday 16 August.
Then, between Wednesday 17 August and the end of the timetable on Friday 19 August, there are no trams running between Bury and Queens Road.
A replacement bus service is being put on to cover the affected stops during the closures, TfGM said.
The transport body has set up a dedicated web page here for anyone requiring further travel information. Metrolink staff will also be around at key locations along the line at busier times to help people make their journeys, transport chiefs said.
TfGM has also apologised for the inconvenience to passengers caused by the closure.
What has TfGM said about the engineering work?
TfGM said the engineering work is part of a maintenance project which involves around 4,400 metres of worn tram tracks being replaced between the Bury and Radcliffe tram stops.
Parts of the overhead line tensioning system are also being renewed.
Victoria Mercer, Metrolink service delivery manager at TfGM, said: “We’re very sorry for the inconvenience this closure of the Bury line will cause but will be doing everything we can to minimise disruption including running a like-for-like replacement bus service.
“The works will ensure that the Bury line continues to operate a safe and reliable service for years to come and we will take the opportunity during this service disruption to undertake additional works that will support future plans to operate additional trams on the Bury line.
“I’d encourage customers using the network to plan ahead and allow extra time when making their journey.”
