St Ann’s Hospice is challenging locals to complete 100km this September to raise money for their new site in Stockport.

The fund-raising campaign has a target of £2million, which will go towards the construction of a new purpose-built facility in Heald Green.

This will replace the current hospice, which is located in an old Victorian building in constant need of repairs.

Among many improvements, the new £21million facility will include 21 en-suite private bedrooms, as well as large landscaped grounds.

St Ann’s Build It Together campaign has already raised £350,000 since its launch in June.

Participants taking on the 100km challenge are free to complete it in whatever way – walk, run, cycle, swim, or all four – and at whatever pace and time suits them.

She said: “I don’t know what we would have done if St Ann’s wasn’t around. I want to help make sure the families who need St Ann’s help in the future are able to do so.

“I can never thank St Ann’s enough for how much they helped our family, they went above and beyond. This is my way of giving something back.”

More information on how to register can be found on the St. Ann’s Hospice website. Registration is free and participants will receive a free t-shirt.
