Helen Flanagan has left I’m A Celebrity fans expecting a redemption arc as she appears in ITV’s South African spin-off.

The former Coronation Street actress, 32, from Bury, was branded a “bimbo with big boobs” while facing a challenging time in the Australian jungle during her first stint on ‘I’m A Celebrity’ back in 2012.

Former campmate and Big Brother star, Nicola McLean, told the Daily Star that Helen was “stereotyped” by viewers because she had a great bikini body and would squeal during the trials.

Nicola claims that society has changed in the years since, while adding that she believes I’m A Celeb fans will see a different side to Helen on the new All Star series.

Nicola said: "Ten years later and three kids later, I think she’s going to try her best. Do I think she will be the best at the trials? I’d be shocked, but neither would I. Do I think she would be more hardcore? Yeah, I think she’s going in there to prove a point."

Ahead of entering the jungle, Helen said: “I am not saying I am going to go in and be a jungle warrior and be absolutely amazing because I will not. Yes, I will be scared but I will have a go and I will be a lot better than last time.”

The actress was forced to face her fear of heights whilst taking on the first challenge of the show earlier this week, which saw the celebs leap from a giant ball which was suspended in mid air.

Helen was visibly overwhelmed as she watched Fatima Whitbread take on the giant ball, while knowing that she was also going to have to do it herself. The mother-of-three, who previously took part in 2012, “felt sick” and crouched on the floor as she watched Fatima fall.

After watching Fatima fall she admitted to cricketing legend Phil Tufnell: “I’m the worst campmate”.

The feisty Corrie lass is used to being challenged as growing up on screen meant she was often at the mercy of keyboard warriors.

Helen stunned fans after arriving at the National Television Awards in October without her engagement ring.

She had been with former Celtic star Scott Sinclaie for 13 years before their split. The pair have three children together; Matilda, seven, Delilah, four, and Charlie, one.

Helen and Scott had reportedly set the date for a 2024 wedding day before calling it quits. They are now focused on co-parenting their three children.
