Manchester’s Barton Square relaunches as ‘Trafford Palazzo’

Acrobats and an orchestra will celebrate the rebranding of the retail complex this weekend.

Barton Square getting a new name and holding a live launch event this weekend to unveil its new moniker - Trafford Palazzo.

The TraffordCity venue, which includes Primark, Legoland, Next Home and the SeaLife centre, has undergone a revamp since it was bought over by developers Peel L&P last year.

They are marking the new name with a live show featuring living statues, live music with an orchestra and acrobatic performances in a towering aerial display. The events run at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm on Saturday 20 November.

Expect more live music, an electric violinist group accompanied by a ballet performance and a percussion performance on Sunday afternoon, with shows at 1pm and 3pm. There will also be free face painting all weekend.

Mark Whittaker, executive director of Peel L&P, said: “We are really excited about the launch of Trafford Palazzo and the spectacular event taking place on 20 and 21 November. It is important to celebrate what has been an incredible transformation.”

Carolanne Molloy, store manager of Primark, said: “It is brilliant to see the new Trafford Palazzo brand officially launched and we are excited for this weekend’s celebrations. Primark have seen an amazing reaction from customers since opening our store here last year.”
