Huge new bowling alley coming to Trafford Palazzo with 21 lanes and a beer and cocktail bar

The King Pins venue is looking to skittle the competition when it comes to finding something to do for bowling fans of all ages.

Plans for a huge bowling alley in Trafford are rolling forward after it was announced the spectacular venue will be opening later this year.

King Pins is bringing its flagship venue to leisure hub Trafford Palazzo.

And the plans are certainly not modest, with more than 20 lanes of bowling games of different kinds and a huge bar boasting an impressive array of beers, cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks.

What is the King Pins bowling alley at Trafford Palazzo?

King Pins has agreed a deal with Peel L&P to put its flagship bowling alley at Trafford Palazzo, which is part of retail and leisure destination TraffordCity.

It is going to be impressive in scale, with the operator moving into a 20,064 sq ft unit.

The state-of-the-art modern bowling alley will feature 15 lanes of tenpin bowling, six lanes of duckpin bowling and a bar serving up some 20 different beers, a substantial cocktail menu and a selection of non-alcoholic mocktails.

The venue will also feature a 26m digital screen across the bowling lanes, which the company says will be a first of its kind in the UK.

King Pins will be located next to the Legoland Discovery Centre and Sea Life at Trafford Palazzo and will sit alongside the existing leisure facilities with games such as ice curling, shuffleboard, arcades, karaoke, pool, ping pong and mini golf.

The company also wants to team up with local street food vendors to give hungry bowlers somewhere to eat and pick up sweet treats.

It is hoped the venue will appeal to all different ages, with youngsters and families coming down to bowl in the daytime before it becomes more of a party or nightlife spot in the evenings.

The bowling alley is slated to open later this year.

What has been said about the bowling alley?

Matt Jones, founder and CEO of King Pins, said: “We are really excited to be launching our flagship venue in Manchester and where better than the impressive surroundings of Trafford Palazzo.

“The venue will be family-friendly during the day with plenty of activities to keep the whole family occupied.

“When the evening comes the lights will go down, the music will go up, and the atmosphere will become electric, appealing to evening entertainment seekers.”

Mark Whittaker, executive director for property investment and management at Peel L&P, said: “King Pins is our latest partner to join a very exciting line-up of retail and leisure brands at Trafford Palazzo.

“We are so pleased King Pins has chosen to open its unique flagship bowling experience at TraffordCity and know it will be extremely well received.

“Our strategy has been focused on curating a mix of brands that can work together to create a bespoke offering that appeals to all our visitors. We are really looking forward to seeing the space come together and celebrating another impactful launch.”

What is Trafford Palazzo and TraffordCity?

Trafford Palazzo is a retail and leisure destination which includes a number of popular days out as well as well-known high street names. It was previously known as Barton Square.

The bowling alley is not the only arrival at the facility planned for 2022.

New Italian restaurant Matterello is set to open in spring while Nerf Action Experience (NerfAX) and restaurant Archie’s are planning to welcome their first customers in autumn.

It is part of TraffordCity, which encompasses the Trafford Centre and its surrounding 3.5 million square feet of retail, leisure and office space including the likes of the Chill Factore indoor snowsports centre and Trafford Golf Centre.
