Fry Awards 2022: the best fish and chip shops in Greater Manchester named

Two Greater Manchester chip shops have been named among the best places to get fish and chips in the UK.

The Fry Awards 2022 top 60 has been published, rewarding the top takeaways for a traditional chippy tea.

Manchester has a long tradition when it comes to serving up Britain’s favourite cuisine - the earliest known chippy in the city was run by John Lees in 1863 from a stall.

But where got the judges’ vote in 2022 for fresh fish and crispy chips?

Top chip shops in Greater Manchester

Chip shops were rated on their food, cleanliness and staff among the categories.

The winners were streamed into two categories, Takeway and Restaurant.

Chips @ No. 8 in Prestwich, The Little Chippy in Tyldesley, and The Fish at Goose Green, Wigan, made the top 50 takeaways list, which was listed in no particular order.

There were also 10 restaurants named.
