The luxury hotel, which is owned by former Manchester United star Gary Neville, has long been synonymous with good eating as the previous restaurant in the building was operated by Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge.

And with a head chef who has worked in some of Manchester’s most renowned kitchens in charge of the menu at the new venture that looks set to continue at the Stock Market Grill.

When is Stock Market Grill opening and what’s on the menu?

The Stock Market Grill occupies the place in the Stock Exchange Hotel which was previously the Bull and Bear restaurant. It promises to be a British brasserie elevating classic dishes and using top-quality local ingredients.

The restaurant is being opened with brothers Joe and Daniel Schofield at the helm along with wine expert James Brandwood. The trio have already got a string of celebrated bars to their name including cocktail establishment Schofield’s, which has been included in a list of the world’s finest drinking establishments. They also run Sterling, the hotel’s subterranean cocktail bar.

The food at Stock Market Grill will be prepared by a team under head chef Joshua Reed-Cooper. He has experience at some of Manchester’s most celebrated restaurants, including The French with Simon Rogan, Where The Light Gets In in Stockport and Ancoats’ Michelin-starred fine dining establishment mana.

As an example of what people can expect, the venue has released a launch menu which has four courses, starting with oysters or cheese and smoked anchovy straws. Other dishes on the launch menu include chicken liver parfait with Sauternes jelly and sourdough toast, wild mushrooms with confit yolk and spelt, rabbit suet pudding with mustard cream, rib-eye steak, a blood orange tart with clotted cream and whiskey baba with vanilla Chantilly cream.

The restaurant is on the ground floor of the hotel and will have diners eating amid the Edwardian splendour of Manchester’s former stock exchange. The restaurant will be situated on what was once the trading floor, with an ornate domed ceiling above the tables.

The Stock Market Grill opens on 1 March. Bookings can be made via the Stock Market Grill website. It will be open on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5pm to 9.30pm, from 12pm to 2.30pm and then again from 5.30pm to 9.30pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and from 12pm until 7pm on Sundays.
