Who was Taylor Hawkins?

Taylor Hawkins was a 50-year-old musician, most known for his involvement with the band Foo Fighters, serving as their drummer for twenty-five years.

Before joining the band, Hawkins was the touring drummer for Sass Jordan and Alanis Morissette.

Hawkins had a slight stroke of luck in how he ended up joining the band. Conflict broke out between frontman Dave Grohl and then-drummer William Goldsmith during a recording session in Seattle for the band’s second studio album.

The encounter saw Goldsmith quit the band.

Mr Hawkins did not officially enter upon the drummer position opening up, and the band recorded tracks with Grohl on drums, who called Hawkins for a recommendation for a drummer, under the impression he would not leave Morissette’s touring band.

He then volunteered to join the band, and was announced as an official member in March 1997.
