Escape to Freight Island is opening a huge new football zone in time for the World Cup 2022.

The Depot Mayfield venue will host the Festival of Football, a new specially-dedicated pub zone which will screen all the England games on big screens - larger than a cinema screen and the largest in Europe, according to organisers.

They have promised a family-friendly area and pub quizzes, football events and guest appearances during the initial group stages of the tournament this winter.

There will also be walkabout entertainment, vintage shirts and food and drink offers.

General admission to the Festival of Football is free and you can book ahead here.

When is the World Cup 2022?

The World Cup 2022 kicks off in Qatar on Sunday 20 November and runs tils the final on Sunday 18 December 2022.

England’s opening game is against Iran at 1pm (UK time) on 21 November.

The next group fixture is against the USA at 7pm on 25 November.

And the fnal group match is versus Wales at 7pm on 29 November.
