The iconic British department store shut the last of its shops in May this year when it went into administration - but Manchester-headquartered online retailers Boohoo.com bought over the brand name and made it an online-only retailer.

Now they have opened a new beauty-centred outlet in the Arndale - their only physical store so far - and are hosting a VIP event this Thursday (9 December) to welcome shoppers and give away some beauty freebies.

Jeanette Whithear, beauty director at Debenhams.com, said: “We’re delighted to be opening with Manchester Arndale, particularly as this is the home of the Boohoo group.

“I’m excited to see the crossover between our digital and physical elements come to life within the space as well as our range of brands increase dramatically into 2022.”

How do I get tickets for the VIP event?

The new Manchester store opened on 2 December, in Unit 25 of the upper mall. And this Thursday evening from 5-8pm, the retailer is holding a VIP night for ticketed guests with demos, offers and samples.

They say the first 50 customers to buy something on the night will receive a free bespoke beauty goodie bag.

You can book a ticket on Eventbrite here.
