Full Monty filming in Manchester & Sheffield: ex-Coronation Street star spotted on set of new TV series

Fully Monty fans can believe in miracles again after the cast of the new spin-off TV series began recording scenes in the film’s original home of Sheffield.

Ex-Corrie star Tupele Dorgu, 44, was spotted on set as filming of the British cinema classic returned to the city for the first time after scenes were shot in Manchester last week.

Tupele, who played the lovable Kelly Crabtree on the cobbles in the ITV soap, was not part of the original cast in the critically acclaimed film, released 25 years ago.

But she was part of a small assemble of cast members seen filming in a housing estate in the city this week.

The series, which will air on Disney+ in 2023, will introduce a host of new cast members including children and grandchildren of the returning characters.

The comedy, released in 1997, was the highest grossing film in the UK until it was overtaken by Titanic.

The nation fell in love with a group of unemployed steelworkers in Sheffield who created their own Chippendales-style striptease act to make some money.

Last week, Robert Carlyle was seen reprising his role as main character Gaz wearing the same Sheffield United shirt he wore in the film in 1997.

The new series, which follows the pals in their home city of Sheffield, will also feature original stars such as Mark Addy, 58, Hugo Speer, 53, and Lesley Sharp, 62.
