The RunThrough Altrincham 10k is taking place in September, with thousands expected to take part. The course starts and finishes in the town centre, with several roads closed especially for the event.

Taking place on Sunday 17 September, this will be the third year in a row the race has come to Altrincham. This year, race organisers are expecting around 2,5000 people to take part – 1,000 more than the previous year.

It is organised by RunThrough, the UK’s largest running events company, who also organise the Warrington Running Festival. Their aim is to encourage as many people as possible to take up running and welcome runners of all abilities.

The Christie Charity is the official charity partner for the race and anyone entering the race can help fundraise by choosing the option to run for charity when registering.

For individuals, the race costs £30 to enter, or £42 if you would like a race t-shirt. There is also a discounted group booking option for six people at £140. All bookings must be made online via the Altrincham 10k website.

“We are extremely grateful to Trafford Council for their support and collaboration, enabling us to put on what is set to be a fantastic event. We can’t wait to welcome all of the runners who will be taking part no matter if this will be their first or fiftieth time running a 10k.”

Cllr Cath Hynes, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Leisure, Arts, Culture and Heritage, said: “We’re always happy to work with partners like RunThrough. The Altrincham 10k will be a fantastic event to watch but even better to take part in. It will be a great way to keep fit and challenge yourself, and runners can also raise money for a great cause at the same time.”
