Campbell Hatton’s first title fight has been confirmed. Ricky’s son will get his chance to secure a first belt when he fights in Sheffield on March 23.

Having served his apprenticeship in the public eye, the 23-year-old from Hyde has won all 14 of his fights as a professional, with five victories coming courtesy of knockouts. Trained by his uncle Matthew, also a decorated fighter, many have been calling for the Manchester City fan to step up his opposition - a journey that starts at the Utilita Arena against Central Area super-lightweight champion Jimmy Joe Flint on the undercard of Dalton Smith’s meeting with Jose Zepeda.

The 26-year-old has won 13 of his 16 fights and won the Central Area title by knocking out Joe Garside last March. His first defence against Adam Sircar ended in a draw in October. Flint suffered the only defeat of his career when he fought Dom Hunt at the weight above for the Central Area welterweight title in 2021.

What has Campbell Hatton said?

He told ManchesterWorld: "It’s hopefully the first of many (titles) and it’s a nice one to pick up - it’s the traditional way to do things and it’s the first title that both my dad and Matthew (Hatton, trainer) won in their careers. I’m really proud to be boxing for it. There are bigger tests out there down the line but we are getting to the stage where these are proper fights with that bit of jeopardy and I think it’s going to bring the best out of me."
