Youri Tielemans is reportedly a player Manchester United’s new manager Erik ten Hag would be interested in signing this summer.
The Red Devils have long been linked with the Belgian midfielder, who enters the final year of his contract this summer.
During the 2021/22 campaign it was widely reported Tielemans would look to move on from the King Power Stadium, with United one of the names mentioned as a possible destination.
However, talk of a transfer for the Leicester City man has lessened in recent weeks, and there’s even been a suggestion he could sign a new deal with the Foxes.
Much of that is due to United’s pursuit of Frenkie de Jong, with the midfielder reportedly willing to join the Red Devils after his disappointment at Barcelona’s decision to allow him to leave.
But, if the move were to collapse, it appears Tielemans could be an alternative for Ten Hag, although he may also decide to move for both players.
The 25-year-old has spent three and a half years with the Foxes and racked up 157 appearances in that time, while he’s already earned 52 senior caps for Belgium.
Tielemans is a highly regarded midfielder, capable of shielding a back four and pushing higher up. He is reliable in possession, has an impressive shooting range and is capable of dribbling past an opposition midfielder.
It’s no surprise United aren’t the only club believed to be interested in securing his services, and there have been more reports linking Arsenal with a move for the former Monaco man this summer, while Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur have also reportedly been monitoring his situation.
According to Goal, Arsenal remain interested in Tielemans but are focusing on other targets at present. They claim the Gunners may return with a bid for the Belgium international later this window.
