Where are the 13 Manchester United players signed by Louis van Gaal now?
Louis van Gaal may have underwhelmed as Manchester United boss, but some of his signings have had impressive careers, be it at Old Trafford or beyond.
Louis van Gaal’s time at Manchester United wasn’t a particularly successful one, but not of his signings disappointed.
The experienced Dutch boss arrived at Old Trafford in 2014, hoping to take United back to where they needed to be after a failed David Moyes experiment.
In his first season at the club, van Gaal managed to improve to a fourth place finish, but it all went wrong in the back-end of the second season.
United missed out on the top four and had to settle for an FA Cup win before van Gaal was sent on his way in 2016.
He has since returned to his post as Netherlands boss, but what has happened to the 13 senior signings he made during his time at Old Trafford?
We take a look below:

1. Angel Di Maria
Angel Di Maria was snapped up for a whopping £67.5million from Real Madrid in 2014, and he would only made 32 appearances, scoring four and assisting two. He left for PSG a year later, with United taking around a £10million loss and the Argentine has been there since. Di Maria has made 286 appearances in Paris, scoring 91 and assisting 11, and he remains a regular for PSG to this day.

2. Anthony Martial
Martial was another pricey signing, arriving on a fee worth around £54million in 2015. He has since made as many as 269 appearances for United, scoring 79 and assisting 50. Martial will go down as a successful signing on the whole, though he is now out on loan with Sevilla having found game time hard to come by in the first half of the year.

3. Morgan Schneiderlin
United paid just over £30million to snap up Southampton star Schneiderlin in 2015, but the Frenchman didn’t turn out to be a long-term signing, as such. He did manage a respectable 47 appearances, but Nemanja Matic proved a superior option. Schneiderlin left for Everton for around £20million two years after his Old Trafford arrival. At 32, he is still going, and he recently reached his 50th game with Ligue 1 side OGC Nice.

4. Memphis Depay
Memphis was another player signed for around £30million, arriving from PSV in 2015, and he is one of the conundrums of recent years. At United, he managed just seven goals and six assists in 53 appearances, but since then he has proved himself elsewhere. The Dutchman left for Lyon in 2017 and dazzled, before eventually joining Barcelona on a free transfer last summer.
