Amad was Man Utd’s best player in their 1-0 defeat to Arsenal in the Premier League.

Erik ten Hag was very pleased with Amad's performance in Manchester United's defeat to Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.

The United manager made three changes from the side that had lost 4-0 against Selhurst Park a week ago, as Amad, Scott McTominay and Sofyan Amrabat came into the starting line up.

It marked Amad's first start in 887 days and he took the opportunity well with an impressive attacking performance that saw him trouble the Arsenal defence on numerous occasion before he was eventually withdrawn in the second-half.

After a number of injury issues, Amad has had to wait for his opportunity in the United first-team and speaking after the Arsenal loss, Ten Hag gave his verdict on the Ivorian's performance.

"I think Amad deserved it, there was a lot of competition in that position, he was injured a long time, he built himself back and he deserved it but across the season with Garnacho, Antony, we have options there. Rashford played there as well," the manager said.

"Today he deserved that position and he played very good, we expected him to do, he was brave, he was creative, defended very good so I was pleased with his performance."
